Common questions

Is this real-money gambling?

No. All chips are play money with no cash value, and nothing can be bought or won. Card Coach is a training tool.

Does the app need an internet connection?

No. Every hint, coach answer, and review is calculated on your device, so it works fully offline.

How does the poker coach decide what to recommend?

It simulates thousands of possible outcomes to estimate your equity (your share of the pot), compares that to the pot odds you're being offered, and factors in your position and hand strength. Equity is calculated against random hands, so tight opponents — Rocks and Sharks — are stronger than the number suggests.

What does "EV" mean in the blackjack hints?

Expected value: the average result of each option per unit you bet. For example, −0.20 means you'd lose 20% of your bet on average with that play. The best play is the one with the highest EV — even when every option is negative.

Why does the strategy chart differ slightly from one I found online?

The chart is calculated exactly for the rules you choose (decks, soft 17, surrender, doubling after splits, and payout), assuming an infinite shoe. Printed charts sometimes differ on very close decisions; the coach marks these as close calls rather than mistakes.

How do I practice card counting?

Turn on Card counting practice on the Blackjack Coach start screen. The running and true counts appear at the top of the table — tap them to hide the numbers and test yourself. The coach then suggests count-based bets and plays.

How do I turn sounds off?

Tap the speaker button at the top of the table. The app also follows your device's silent switch.

How do I delete my data?

There's nothing to delete — Card Coach doesn't collect any data. Your only saved setting (sound on/off) is removed when you delete the app. See the Privacy Policy.
